In the fall of 1977, a few faithful and dedicated saints met with Reverend Henry Brewer at the YMCA on West Third Street, The Townsend Funeral Home and Deacon Fred Duncan's Junkyard.  God blessed our efforts by leading Reverend Brewer to organize the Freedom Faith Mission in November 1977.

The Freedom Faith Missionary Baptist church was organized on January 8, 1978 during the tenure of Moderator D.D. Chestang of the Northwestern Ohio Missionary Baptist District Association.  The membership at that time was 29.  Because of His mercy and amazing grace, two (2) of the charter members and co-founders, Sister Alberta Montgomery and Sister Mattie Williams, are still active and faithful members to this day.  Several committed members that joined the Freedom Faith Church Family shortly thereafter are still here and still working for the Lord.

The Lord saw fit to provide Freedom Faith with a new edifice at 27 North St. Clair Street.  Many came in off the street to worship with us.  As we ministered to the needs of those in the community, many gave their lives to God (records indicate that in November 1980) the membership had grown to 250.

In October 1981, the Holy Spirit led us to 14 South Hatfield Street and God's Grace allowed us to purchase that building within three (3) years.  The membership decreased, but the members continued to work in unity.

Sunday, August 5, 1987 Reverend Henry Brewer submitted his resignation as Pastor of Freedom Faith Missionary Baptist Church.  Without a shepherd, the church family remained steadfast and in prayer for an overseer of the flock.  On October 11, 1987, the prayers of the congregation were answered when Reverend Willie D. Miliner, Sr., became Pastor of Freedom Faith.  Under the leadership of Pastor Miliner and by the guidance of our Heavenly Father, many accomplishments were made at that location of worship including purchasing property at 262-264 Hanover Avenue in Jefferson Township.  While man viewed the existing building on that property as run down and merely a shell of a building, Pastor Miliner saw the next church home of Freedom Faith through spiritual eyes, because of the vision God had given him.  With God in control, renovation began in June of 1997.

On Sunday, January 18, 1998, a cold and snowy day, at 10:45 a.m. the Freedom Faith Church family traveled via motorcade to our present site of worship.  Upon our 11:00 a.m. arrival, Pastor Miliner performed the ribbon cutting ceremony and the congregation entered the doors singing "We've Come This Far by Faith."  Pastor Miliner led a heartfelt prayer of dedication of the building to God and His people.

Following the morning message, we had our first fellowship dinner in our new church home with special guest, Mrs. Joan Fritz, a Jefferson Township Trustee at that time,  along with family members and friends.

Our dedication services for our new blessing began on Thursday, January 22, 1998, climaxing on Sunday, January 25, 1998.  The Reverend Orville Littlejohn preached at the 11:00 a.m. worship service and Reverend Bobby Hagan, Associate Minister, Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist church, delivered the message at 4:00 p.m.

Sister Kenyatta Faircloth was the first member to be baptized at the Hanover address on March 28, 1999.

Pastor Miliner, a faithful and dedicated pastor until his health failed, retired as Pastor Emeritus of Freedom Faith Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, October 29, 2000.  At that service, the fellowship hall was dedicated and named the "Miliner Fellowship Hall."  Although the Freedom Faith family was saddened by the retirement of Pastor Miliner, we were encouraged and strengthened by the powerful and inspiring messages and expression of love that were shared with us that day.

Once again without a pastor the church family remained prayerful and waited on God's choice.  God moved and on June 17, 2001, we were sent a special blessing in the person of Reverend Frederick A. Hayes, Sr.

Pastor Hayes' installation celebration services were held October 29, 2001 – November 1, and 4tth, 2001 with Pastor John Jackson, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Pastor Charles Spencer, Christian Disciple Baptist Church, Pastor David Crutcher, Third Baptist Church, Pastor Hence Coats, Pleasant Green Baptist Church.  At the 8:00 a.m. service on November 4, 2001, Pastor Steve Spiller from Greater Galilee Baptist Church, Chicago, IL, brought the message, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Calvin Cage from Meridian Baptist Church, Washington, DC fed us the Word of God and at 4:00 p.m. installation services were concluded at Greater Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, where Reverend Lloyd D. Hayes is the pastor.

Pastor Hayes' love for his fellow man and his passion and devotion to the "seniors" and the "youth" has been instrumental in his ministry.  The Church has grown spiritually and financially under his teaching.

We have made many strides and achieved much under the leadership of Pastor Hayes. God gave Pastor Hayes the vision to reconstruct and establish new ministries which began in January 2002 through this present day to serve our church family and the community.  The ministries are as follows, Bereavement Ministry, Bus Ministry, Half-way House Project Ministry, Marriage Ministry, Video/Tape Ministry, Special Education Ministry, Travel Ministry, the Single's Ministry, Community Wide Worship Services (annual event), Family and Friends Ministry, Deaconess and Minister's Wives Ministry, Young Deacons in Training, Freedom Faith's Annual Golf Scholarship, Health & Wellness Ministry, the Men's Ministry, Teen Ministry, Praise Dance Ministry, the Women's Ministry, Hospitality Ministry, Building Fund/Land Project Ministry, Pastor's Care Ministry, Usher's Ministry, Mission Ministry, Evangelism Ministry, First Aid Ministry, Executive Ministry and the Financial Ministry. Our tutoring program, "TIGER" (Tutors Igniting God's Educational Riches) commenced Monday, September 8, 2008.

Minister Davion Arnold became Pastor Hayes' first son in the ministry of God and preached his first sermon Sunday, October 5, 2003.  Since then, several ministers have served God and the people of God under the guidance of Pastor Hayes.  They include Reverend Dwain Hayes, Reverend Johnny Poynter and also Pastor Gerard Seldon, Pastor of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.  Presently, Minister Michael Hester and Reverend David Crutcher, who joined us in the summer of 2010, are serving God and the Freedom Faith family under the leadership of Pastor Hayes.

In 2001, God blessed Freedom Faith with Brother Michael Napper.  He became a part of the Freedom Faith family and was appointed, the Minister of Music in 2004.   Freedom Faith has been blessed with the Voices of Judah (2003) and the Male Chorus (2005) in addition to the already established Senior Choir (1978) and the Youth Choir (1992).  As one unit, combined they are the Freedom Faith M. B. Church Mass Choir.

Links were broken in our church family in 2004. Two of our chartered members, Sister Charlotte Garrett,
(May 5th) and Sister Essie Bush (November 6th) went home to be with the Lord.  Both were spiritual warriors and were inspirations to us all.

God has been moving in and through the Freedom Faith Ministry.  On August 24, 2010, He blessed us to purchase 8.2 acres of land at 49 North and Hoover Avenue, which will be used to further our ministry of serving the community.  Our church website (www.freedomfaithmbc.org) went live in April 2011 and in August 2011, God blessed us with the installation of central air throughout our present location. Recently, a structure has been place in our view that we are trusting God for to make our new church home. As we reflect on our rich history, our hearts are full of gratitude and thanksgiving. What a mighty God we serve!
